Marissa Mayer, the newest CEO of Yahoo, has recently been glowing and it might be from more than just excitement over landing the new position. Mayer announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
Mayer and husband Zack Bogue will take on parenthood starting in October with the baby's expected due date. This means that Mayer will be taking maternity leave sometime in the coming fall.
So what will the budding couple name their new baby boy? Perhaps Mayer will name the child after her father, Michael Mayer. Maybe the new CEO will continue a family tendency of using the letter M as the leading letter in names. Marissa's parents' names are Michael and Margaret Mayer and she has a brother named Mason, so she might stick with that trend.
Mayer's maternity leave will be the first experienced by the Fortune 500 company, and for the business world in general, according to TechCrunch.
Yahoo is being commended for not allowing Mayer's pregnancy to take her out of the running for the company's biggest role. Mayer was said to have told company executives of her pregnancy prior to them making the final decision.
Mayer will have up to 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave and her job will be held at her initial salary. Despite the hold up, Mayer's job will be on standby until she returns.
Beginning her new career as CEO of Yahoo only a day ago, Mayer has yet to feel the pressures she is sure to experience in the coming months as president of Yahoo. Maybe this will leave a little room for time to come up with baby names if she hasn't already started.
