A Burger King employee was fired for posting a picture of him standing with both feet in tubs of lettuce. The photo was followed by a caption that read, "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King."
Although the employee did not show his face in the photo, viewers were furious of the image and made it their duty to find his location and get him fired.
The picture was posted on the 4Chan website where people post and comment anonymously. The sight may be anonymous, but a simple slip up left the employee's identity known. The Burger King worker left the geo-location tags on his post and soon after 4Chan users were able to find the Burger King location in which the picture was posted from.
The worker posted the photo from the Mayfield Heights Burger King in Cleveland, Ohio. The Burger King location in Cleveland is privately owned, according to Bryson Thornton, the director of global communications for Burger King.
Burger King released a statement saying, "Food safety is a top priority for Burger King Restaurants and the company has strict policies regarding its food handling procedures. We are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action as necessary."
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Mayfield Heights Burger King fired the man who posted the image along with two other employees who were said to be responsible for taking the photo.
The morning manager at the Burger King location told customers that both the employee and the manager on duty were fired after the restaurant had been linked to the photo.
