Taiwanese firm HTC has confirmed the rumors and declared recently, that the company is in works to update its latest flagship smartphones including One X, S and XL with the newest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
According to the Engadget reports, the company has not revealed tentative availability for the update yet, however they have disclosed in a company statement their smatphones would be upgraded to Android 4.1 at some point in the (hopefully near) future. Here the statement:
"We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean."
Earlier reports from Australian carrier Telstra were spotted promising Jelly Bean in the works for the HTC One S and One XL, though at the time there was no mention of the One X flagship.
According to SlashGear reports, an HTC spokesperson has informed them that the upgrade will be rolled out to all the versions worldwide, including the carrier-specific versions in the U.S.
Google had unveiled Android Jelly Bean last month. The OS made its debut on Google's Nexus 7 tablet. The latest Android iteration is reportedly going to bring a number of improvements to the HTC One X and One S such as performance enhancements, new photo gallery features and improved home-screen widgets.
If HTC manages to bring Jelly Bean to the One X, the company will certainly grab an edge over Samsung, which recently launched its latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S3. So far there's no word from Samsung when it will be releasing the Jelly Bean update for its smartphones.
