"The Good Wife" fans are always hungry for updates about their favorite legal drama series on TV. As the Julianna Margulies starrer enters season 7, below are five things fans can expect to happen on the hit CBS show.
1. Alicia is reviving her career
"The Good Wife" season 6 may have ended on a sour note for the title character, but Alicia is now putting the past behind her and re-establishing the things she has somehow lost along the way.
According to CBS's official synopsis for season 7, Alicia will attempt to revive her struggling law career once and for all. She is actually thinking of creating her own law firm, and she plans to do this with the help of a new character.
2. A new love interest for Alicia
Despite the struggles she is bound to face since the pilot episode of "The Good Wife" season 7, Alicia will find someone she can trust in the person of Jason Crouse, whom she hires to carry out an investigation as she builds her law firm.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Crouse, admitted to TV Line that his character and Alicia will hit it off right away. "She's going to hire him, so, yeah, they do hit it off. She's intrigued by his personality," he said although he revealed that he is still not sure if Jason will eventually become Alicia's love interest.
Speaking of his character, Morgan said Jason is an ex-lawyer who ended up becoming an investigator after getting into some serious trouble in the past.
3. New faces on the show
Apart from Morgan's introduction in "The Good Wife" season 7, fans should also watch out for the addition of Peter Gallagher, Margo Martindale and Oliver Platt in the show's cast. Gallagher is portraying Irving Carter, who is described as a "sophisticated attorney." Martindale is playing national strategist Willa Eastman, while Platt is playing Reese Dipple, the special client of Gallagher's character, as per Buddy TV.
4. Hillary Clinton's appearance for the presidential election
Things are getting more intense when "The Good Wife" season 7 hits the small screen this fall. Aside from the interesting storylines of the main cast and the new faces of the show, there is also the possible appearance of Hillary Clinton. Well not really, but showrunner Robert King said fans can expect a Hillary Clinton-esque character to pop in the show as it attempts to mirror the presidential race, according to The Guardian.
"[When] the Iowa caucus happens [on 1 February], it's going to happen in our show. We're trying to parallel what's happening on our show with what's happening in reality," King said before adding, "If Peter runs, he is running against Hillary."
5. Possible return of actor Josh Charles
"The Good Wife" fans were overcome with emotion when Josh Charles' Will Gardner was killed off in season 5. In the upcoming season, show fans will surely be thrilled to know that Charles wants to come back for more.
In an interview with E! News, Charles, who has done a directing stint since his character's death on the show, said he "would love to return."
He then went on to say that he was supposed to direct last season but things didn't work out due to his other commitments. "But I don't know about this season. Probably not because I'm busy this year but it's possible."
