‘Reign’ Season 3: 3 Things Fans Can Expect From CW’s Period Drama This Fall

"Reign" fans are excited for the period drama's return this fall, and they pretty much yearn to get some scoop on what's about to happen in the Adelaide Kane starrer which is now on its third season. Below are three things fans can expect to play out when the series returns to the small screen.

1. The return of Nostradamus

Rossif Sutherland's Nostradamus clearly gave a good impression when the series started two years ago, so it's good to know that he is returning this season. Hopefully, he is bringing more good news than the bad ones.

Showrunner Laurie McCarthy confirmed Nostradamus' return on "Reign" season 3 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly saying: "He [Nostradamus] will be in the series intermittently, but he's still really pissed at Catherine, so I don't think he really feels a great desire to be under her thumb again."

McCarthy also teased fans that Nostradamus is going to appear on the French court, but it isn't clear when. Fans will just have to wait and see which episode is going to feature the French seer.

2. The introduction of Catherine de Medici in the Elizabethan court

The CW period drama is getting more and more exciting each season. This fall, Catherine de Medici is set to appear in the Elizabethan court. Of course, this shouldn't come a surprise since Queen Elizabeth has already been introduced in season 2, and she is set to make an alliance with Catherine in season 3.

McCarthy said, "And that's an interesting dynamic between those two women because much like Mary, Elizabeth is someone who really was never parented. And Catherine is good at being someone's advocate and much like she was Francis' advocate, she goes over there and she strikes up a very personal alliance with Elizabeth," as quoted by Design&Trend.

3. The very familiar ally of Mary Stuart

Mary Stuart may be struggling when "Reign" season 3 airs this fall, but she'll find a remarkable alliance after the return of a very familiar face. Like who can even forget Mary de Guise?

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Amy Brenneman is reprising the role on the show's third run. Perhaps her return is very timely since her daughter really needs someone she can rely on while her mother-in-law teams up with Queen Elizabeth.

"Reign" season 3 is set to premiere on Oct. 9 on The CW. Stay tuned for more updates until then.
