Rick Ross: Explains His Food Lyrics, Calls Honey Buns 'The Gift of a Lifetime'

Rapper Rick Ross recently shared his culinary wits as well as his favorite places to eat in an interview with bon Appetite magazine.

This is not Ross' first time publically speaking of his love for food, as he can be heard rapping about it in several of his songs. One of his lyrics includes "Am I really just a narcissist. 'Cause I wake up to a bowl of lobster bisque?"

In the interview, Ross admits that the lyrics do hold some truth and that he really does eat lobster for breakfast.

"There's a steakhouse in Miami called Prime One Twelve. ... I order three entrées that I know I'm not gonna finish and save the lobster bisque for the following morning," he explained.

Ross hasn't let fame go to his head too much, as he still enjoys cooking some of his own food without the help of his personal chef.

"I take the aluminum foil and I put a nice piece of tilapia on it, season it good, then put a bundle of broccoli and two or three slices of cheese over it," he said. "I fold it up and sit it on the grill. Voilà!"

Ross reminisced in the food-talk, sharing a bit on how he used to eat prior to fame and the way it compares to what he can afford to eat today.

"I remember when I couldn't afford to eat like this. It was ramen noodles and the San Francisco Treat," he said. "Dessert? Get you a honey bun and put a slice of cheese on it. Put it in the microwave for 45 seconds and you had the gift of a lifetime."
