Taylor Swift and boyfriend Calvin Harris have been hogging the limelight these past few weeks courtesy of their individual feuds with fellow celebrities Miley Cyrus and Zayn Malik, respectively.
In the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), which Miley Cyrus will be hosting on Aug. 30, the "Bad Blood" singer is said to be gearing up to face the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker. Taylor Swift will be attending the event sans Scottish DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris — who will be in the U.K. performing — by her side to safeguard her from the impending attacks of Cyrus.
International Business Times reported the singers' feud started when the former Disney star criticized in a Marie Claire interview Swift's much talked about hit "Bad Blood." The song and video was speculated to be an allusion to Katy Perry with whom the "Shake it Off" artist has real bad blood. Cyrus said, "I don't get the violence revenge thing. That's supposed to be a good example? And I'm a bad role model because I'm running around with my [breasts] out? I'm not sure how [breasts] are worse than guns."
Meanwhile, former One Direction member Zayn Malik retweeted a message leaning in to Cyrus' favor which then elicited a knee-jerk reaction from Calvin Harris who ran to the rescue of his damsel in distress. Thus, the two male personalities also got entangled in a Twitter row over the two ladies.
A Hollywood Life source said, "Taylor is thrilled Calvin is the kind of guy that jumps to her defense. She was happy when he tweeted Zayn. But she knows it probably just gave Miley more reason to bash her. She wishes Calvin would be there with her to be her human shield."
Swift apparently wanted DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris to be by her side because Cyrus could get all crazy and subtly attack her in public. Another source detailed, "Taylor is by far her biggest target and Miley is thinking of ways to subtly diss her. She loves the controversy and is upset that Taylor hasn't said anything about it. There is bound to be sparks between the two of them that night."
She might have an alternative back up though, and they are none other than her gal pals Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne who all appeared in her "Bad Blood" video.
"And if she wins, she wants them to come up on stage with her. Taylor has more than enough awards to last a lifetime. She just wants to share the success with as many people as she can," a separate insider remarked.
Meanwhile, as per Radio.com, the couple was rumored to have been offered by Armani underwear to appear together in an ad following the footsteps of the 2009 underwear campaign of David and Victoria Beckham.
Nonetheless, reports have surfaced that Taylor Swift declined the deal and won't appear with boyfriend Calvin Harris in an advertisement.
Fans will have to watch the MTV VMA on Aug. 30 to catch the exciting turn of events that will unfold live.
