The Spice Girls will be one of the closing acts for the 2012 London Olympics.
The five members are scheduled to light up the stage along with other pop artists such as George Michael, The Who, Take That and Jessie J on August 12.
This is one of the Spice Girls' first performances since 2008, following their reunion in June for the release of their musical, "Viva Forever." The group gathered for photos at the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel, famously known as the location of the group's debut music video "Wannabe."
"Viva Forever" focuses on a talent competition and how a potential star named Viva is affected by it.
All members of the Spice Girls had an active involvement in creating the musical, which is due to open at the Piccadilly Theatre in London on November 27.
The performance at the Olympics was almost taken away from the Spice Girls when member Victoria Beckham reportedly refused to be a part of the performance.
Victoria however put rumors to rest when she spoke on RTE radio's John Murray Show saying "I don't know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we'll see. If they're up for something then I certainly am.' She added, "We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics."
The group has reportedly agreed to sing their 1996 hit track "Wannabe" as one of the two songs they perform.
