Back in February 2012, Samsung Electronics unveiled its new tablet the Galaxy Note 10.1 at the Mobile World Congress event. It has been five month since the tablet has been launched but the company has not released the device in the market. However, the tech experts are guessing now that Galaxy Note 10.1 will make its debut soon. As the South Korean giant has recently sent out an invite to the media stating that the company will launch a new Galaxy device on August 15.
Although, nothing else has been informed by Samsung about the launch, however it can be assumed that the brand has recently launched the Galaxy S3 smartphone, hence, it would be highly unlikely that they would launch a new handset and cannibalize S3's sales. Relatively, this could mean that Samsung may launch the much-awaited Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
Even a report by CNET states, "The division that sent the e-mail, Samsung Electronics America, usually handles launches for non-smartphone devices, like tablets."
As the name indicates, the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet has a 10.1 inch touchscreen display. The tablet has a 1.4 GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor. Galaxy Note 10.1 has a 3 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash at the rear. It also has a 2 MP front camera for video calling. It is based on the Android ICS operating system. Further, the 10.1 inch display is also equipped with the S-pen capabilities. The S Pen brings with it detailed pressure sensitivity, and more accuracy and control when editing or writing. This provides an analog pen writing experience on a digital device.
Moreover, in June, a report from Unwired View emerged in the tech media world informing that Amazon US was taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 10.1. The report leaked a screen shot showing that the retailer had quoted a price tag of $549 for the Note 10.1, saying it should become available "within 3 to 5 weeks."
However, later on, Engadget reports came up citing a quote from Samsung, which said, the Note 10.1 product page was published by Amazon "in error". In consequence, the page was taken down.
As of now, this is just a mere speculation and possibilities are also rife that Samsung may, in fact launch the Galaxy Note 2, their second generation phablet, which is a successor to the Galaxy Note.
