"Flash" fans are surely craving for more details on the upcoming season 2 of their favorite CW series ahead of its premiere date this fall. The Grant Gustin starrer is bound to be action-packed, but the twists and turns will definitely give a remarkable impression to viewers. Below are three significant events that will happen in season 2.
1. The aftermath of the storm
The last time fans saw the "Flash" cast and Barry Allen they were all at the mercy of the storm that was threatening to wreak havoc in Central City. Though it has already been revealed that "The Flash" season 2 will not pick up where the show left off in the pilot season's finale, Gustin has confirmed that the aftermath will be seen by viewers despite the time jump.
"we pick up about six months later, and we're going to piece together how the storm has affected everyone," Gustin was quoted as saying by Cinema Blend. The time jump surely stimulates a lot of questions. Did Barry somehow managed to neutralize the temporal singularity? Or, was he sent to the near future, hence, the six-months time jump? Nevertheless, Gustin assured fans, "It's not as different as you'd think, but as we move forward, some things will blow fans' minds."
2. The introduction of Barry Allen's new love interest
Fans who are rooting for Barry to find love this season will not be disappointed, as it was already confirmed that "The Messengers" alum Shantel VanSanten is going to be introduced as Barry's new love interest, as per Screen Crush. VanSanten's character is named Paty Spivot and it is still not clear how she is going to be introduced into the storyline. Could she be the newest addition to S.T.A.R. Labs? Fans should wait for the premiere episode to find out.
Joining VanSanten in the guest stars list are "Masters of Sex" alum Teddy Sears, "Insurgent" actor Keiynan Lonsdale, Adam "Edge" Copeland and many more.
3. The arrival of Wally West and Jay Garrick
For fans who can't get enough of the scarlet speedster, "The Flash" season 2 has got you covered as you are bound to meet two characters with the same power/s as Barry's. Cue Wally West and Jay Garrick. These two new characters will run through Central City and will hopefully form an alliance with Barry through thick and thin.
Speaking of the arrival of Wally and Jay, producer Gabrielle Stanton said as per International Business Times, "We didn't want Barry to get lonely so we thought we'd bring in some more speedsters. It's always Barry's journey. The Flash is always about Barry, but these people who come in will show us different ways that The Flash can be."
Speaking of Barry's relationship with Jay, Stanton teased that the mentor relationship between the two will be strengthened. "[Barry] still has Joe, he still has his dad, and we're introducing Jay Garrick, who will be a mentor-y character to Barry. Jay has seen some things that Barry hasn't seen, and he's going to be helping him through the process."
However, if comic book fans are expecting The Flash and Wally West to be friends, there is a possibility that they wouldn't since Stanton has revealed that they put a different twist to Wally's character. "We want to stay respectful and totally satisfy what the fans want out of [Wally West]. But on the other hand, we also need to change the character, twist things and put our own spin on it, so that it's not exactly what everyone expects. Otherwise, you're like, 'We're introducing Wally West,' and someone looks it up on Wikipedia and knows the story, so they don't watch. So, it will definitely be our twist on the Wally West character," Stanton said.
"The Flash" season 2 is set to premiere this fall on Oct. 6, on The CW. More details will be revealed before the show returns, so stay tuned.
