A 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to be released this September according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo claims that the smaller and less expensive laptop will give consumers an "attractive" alternative to the non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac Book Air with its higher resolution screen.
For buyers interested in shelving out much less than what the 15-inch costs, Kuo predicts the 13-inch Retina device will cost close to what the price for Apple's non-Retina MacBook Pro would cost, starting at $1,199. The 15-inch version costs $1,799. The 13-inch device is expected to have the same features as the 15-inch, just with a few inches shaved off.
"We think consumers who initially planned to purchase the 13" MacBook Pro and Air will turn to the 13" Retina MacBook Pro instead because it has an attractive panel, its price is similar to MacBook Pro and it has a better balance between power consumption and form factor," Kuo reportedly notes.
If Kuo's predictions are accurate, Apple will have a lot on its plate for September with expectations of the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, new iPod Touch and iMac to also be released that month.
