Rapper Kanye West is reportedly having an engagement ring created for current girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
He is having his private jeweler use diamonds and rubies from his late mother Donda's jewelry to create the ring.
West is claimed to be counting down the days until Kardashian's divorce to Kris Humphries is complete.
A source revealed, "Kanye picked out some of Donda's most expensive pieces, including some diamond earrings and a ruby ring. He then gave them to a private jeweler friend to make Kim a one-of-a-kind engagement ring."
This is a big deal as Kanye was extremely close to his mother, so let's hope that if West and Kardashian are in fact to wed in the future, that the reality tv star can stick this one out for the long haul.
"Donda was such an important person in Kanye's life, he thought the world of her and was devastated when she died. So, he kept all her jewelry as keepsakes - a lot of the pieces were items he bought over the years after he made it as a hip-hop star."
"And now, Kanye has found a woman he respects and loves just as much as his mom, so he wants to share her jewelry collection with Kim."
An insider familiar with the situation says that West would like to marry in his hometown of Chicago, or Oklahoma, where his mother was buried.
West might think it's a good idea to make Kardashian's potential engagement ring out of such sentimental stones, however his friends don't seem to agree.
The source explained, "His friends think it's a terrible idea and are advising him not to give Kim the ring. Because it's a gift, it would be difficult for Kanye to ask for it back if they ever split up."
If the two do get married, they will join a long list of celebrities who rushed into matrimony.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony top that list, as Anthony proposed to Lopez only days after divorcing his first wife Dayanara Torres.
Similar to West and Kardashian's situation, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley married after only dating for four months.
