Justin Bieber had a pretty rough time this past couple of months, but it isn't too late yet. JB, following his confession of being broken hearted, is now back with his new track "What Do You Mean?" hitting the Billboard's number one spot.
Bieber's song is just the 23rd song to launch at number one, topping his 2012 hit "Boyfriend," on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its 57-year history, according to Billboard. He is reportedly the youngest male artist who has ever done it.
The official video of the song, which is also his first song to premiere at number one, reportedly arrived on Aug. 30. This was the same night when Bieber performed it on the MTV Video Music Awards.
"What Do You Mean," which Beiber co-penned and co-produced, sold 337,000 downloads for the week ending on Sept. 3, and in five days-time, it was streamed on Spotify for 21 million times.
It opened at number two on the Streaming Songs chart, having streams of 23.2 million in the United States, and number one on subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart, with 10.1 million counts.
The Canadian singer released the video of the black and white acoustic version of his new song to celebrate the success of the track, Entertainment Weekly learned.
In line with the track's initial success, owner of School Boy Records and Raymond-Braun Media Group and Bieber's manager Scooter Braun said, "I'm happy to see Justin doing what he does best: music."
"[It's] a reminder of what an important global star Justin has become, with worldwide chart milestones being achieved daily as the song resonates," Steve Bartels, Def Jam CEO, added.
Since the spilt with Selena Gomez, Bieber did not have any relationships. Gomez's ex-boyfriend admitted that his heart got broken, and he is just letting it heal.
Bieber is apparently staying true to what he said — that he will be focusing on his professional comeback. A lot of controversies happened in the last few years, and the pop star said has already atoned for the mistakes in his past, Daily News reported.
