‘Sailor Moon Crystal’: 5 Things You Should Know About Birthday Girl Ami Mizuno Aka Sailor Mercury!

While fans are busy awaiting the fate of "Sailor Moon Crystal" if it is really getting a go signal for a sophomore run, some may have forgotten that this week, particularly this Thursday, Ami Mizuno aka Sailor Mercury celebrated her birthday.

For true-blue fans of the famous "Sailor Moon" anime/manga, it's time to prove how well you know this blue-haired character. Below are 4 things that you should know by now if you are a "Sailor Moon" fan!

1. Ami Mizuno used to be a loner.

That's right! Before Mizuno became one of the five lead sailors, she was disinterested in spending time with her classmates. Instead she would study all alone and read books most of the time. According to Sailor Moon Wikia, Ami was so engrossed with her studies that most of her classmates thought she was snobby and arrogant.

2. Our birthday girl is said to have an IQ of at least 300.

If this fictional character would have been real, she would have put Albert Einstein, who has an IQ level of 160-190 as per Listovative, to shame. Ami would have been going head-to-head with William James Sidis' genius. The latter is said to have an IQ level of 250-300. Looks like Mizuno's hard work to hone her intelligence paid off because she is said to have an IQ of at least 300, as noted by ComicVine.

3. Sailor Mercury was the first one to join the Inner Senshi

"Sailor Moon Crystal" fans who may have been following their favorite/anime should have known by now that the blue-eyed, blue-haired character was the first to join Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon in her fight against evil, as noted by WikiMoon.org. As the brains of the group, she is also considered as the most sensible one and is the first one to notice when the girls have a "dumb" moment.

4. Ami Mizuno is a skillful girl who is secretly addicted to pop culture.

Despite being known for dedicating most of her waking time to studying, Sailor Mercury delights over pop culture and romance novels secretly. She is actually embarrassed to admit this to her friends. She's also skilled in playing chess and swimming — two things she considers as her means of relaxation.

5. The Soldier of Water and Intellect resembles "Miss Rain" character Rena Kuramitsu.

Naoko Takeuchi, the Japanese manga artist who created "Sailor Moon," may or may not have intended for Sailor Mercury to resemble Rena Kuramitsu, but the resemblance is actually undeniable. Sailor Moon Wikia even noted that Usagi even noticed this resemblance in the manga when she met Ami for the first time. Unfortunately, in the 2003 re-release of the manga, the reference was removed. Also, Takeuchi herself said that Ami actually channels Noriko Sakai, who was a Japanese singer-idol in the '90s.

Happy Birthday Sailor Mercury!
