Fans of “Divergent-Allegiant” were in for another treat as recent announcements were made regarding Theo James and Shailene Woodley’s final two movies’ new titles.
It was a known fact that the third and last part in the “Divergent” franchise would be divided into two parts just like what happened to the final installments of “Harry Potter,” "Twilight" and "Hunger Games." But, instead of just calling it “The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1” and "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2, the blockbuster dystopian movie adapted from Veronica Roth’s best selling book “Allegiant” was changed into — "Allegiant" and "Ascendant."
So from now on, the first part of the third installment of Theo James and Shailene Woodley’s movie will be called “The Divergent Series: Allegiant.” The filming has already wrapped up for this one and production has geared up for the second part “The Divergent Series: Ascendant,” MTV News revealed.
The movie will pick up where “Insurgent” left off. Four and Tris have uncovered the truth about the world they’re in and they have answers as to why it was divided into factions. If you haven’t read the book, the place they're in was actually an experiment by the government post-war on how civilization might be corrected if its citizens were categorized and limited. The distinct multiple personalities that Tris possessed was the key for discovering the truth. “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” will lock on their journey to find out what is behind the fence.
To sum up, the “Divergent” trilogy would in fact be translated into four “Divergent” movies. It’s not a bad thing actually, since avid fans of the book and movie could just very well deal with seeing their favorite characters Four and Tris and the actors who played them Theo James and Shailene Woodley on the big screen.
Comicbook.com took note of the intriguing tagline on the posters of “Ascendant” which goes, “The end is never what you expect." So, perhaps there is a big possibility that the movie will divert from what Veronica Roth penned in her book.
Meanwhile, fans raved about the revelation of the new title names of the third installment of the “Divergent” franchise on Twitter.
One fan tweeted, “My actual reaction to the movie title change was pure fangirl screams, I'm not gonna lie #Allegiant #Ascendant @Divergent SO EXCITED OMG.”
Another wrote, “OMG!!! So excited for the new poster from and of course the genetic symbol and how they are going to explain it.”
“The Divergent Series: Allegiant” is slated to hit theaters on March 18, 2016 and “The Divergent Series: Ascendant” on March 24, 2017.
