The 2016 Toyota Prius made its official debut last week, boasting new design and a heightened driving experience.
According to The Car Connection, one of the most popular eco-friendly cars looks poised to stay relevant.
Among the many changes to the 2016 Toyota Prius is its improved handling. Some consumers complain about the Prius' "less than engaging driving experience," but now, Toyota boasts the changes it made. A conscious effort was done to inject a lot more excitement to the car.
The new Prius has a new feature called the "Toyota Safety Sense" or TSS. The new technology incorporated by Toyota uses pre-collision braking, pedestrian detection, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control and lane departure system with steering assist. This feature helps the driver to stay in one lane.
As for the milage, compared to the outgoing model that has an average of 50 Miles Per Gallon (MPG) consumption, with 51 MPG for city and 48 for highway, Toyota expects that the 2016 version will have a combined rating of 55MPG and even higher city rating of 60 MPG.
But if you think that's already a winner with regards to fuel consumption, Toyota reveals that there will be an "Eco" version of the Prius.
Regarding the new engine of the car, Toyota has yet to announce about the size of the engine or if it operates on four cylinders. But Toyota said that it has made "ground-breaking thermal efficiency" and "gains of more than 40 percent."
The Daily Dot also praised its new design. The hybrid car was dubbed "aggressive" in its styling which was seen as Toyota's attempt to rebrand the Prius' image.
The Toyota Prius is usually praised for its eco-friendly features and economical gas consumption but, is criticized for its looks. Some even calls it "bland" and "boring."
But Toyota is now ready to shed that image. As reported by Car Scoops, the new Prius features sporty-looking tail lights and front lights. In addition, it has a much lower and raked hood line.
Toyota's beloved "green car" is said to be "2.4 inches longer, 0.6 inches wider, and 0.8 inches lower" than the last model. The company also claims that "the height of the Prius' front badge is exactly the same as that of Scion's FR-S sports car - a remarkable achievement in height and mass reduction."
However, the interior layout of the car remains the same.
For its other specifications, the 2016 Toyota Prius features a lower center of gravity and tightened suspension. Featuring a new double-wishbone rear suspension and a more rigid body structure, Toyota aims to make the 2016 Prius a better driving car.
And based on how Toyota presents the 2016 Prius, it's as if you can use it as a drift car.
Toyota will officially launch the 2016 Prius by the end of the year.
