"Big Bang Theory" Season 9 is going to be the definition of romantic comedy when it hits the small screen this fall season. The geeky gang is back and the new season is going to pick up where Season 8 finale left off. However, the aftermath of the events will take a toll on everyone when the show officially premieres on Sept. 21.
The hiatus of fall TV shows is finally ending, and CBS' famous comedy series "Big Bang Theory" is all set to return with a bang this fall for its ninth run on TV. Avid viewers of the series have already been teased about Leonard and Penny's wedding since last season. "Big Bang" big boss Steve Molaro has already confirmed that the wedding is happening, the big question that fans are now hoping to get answered is: What's Penny's last name?
Time flies so fast that avid viewers were hooked to the nerdy comedy Sheldon and the gang brings to the television, without really taking notice that Penny's maiden name has not been mentioned since day one. Hence, this could be the main reason why Molaro teased that fans will finally learn Penny's name. Hopefully, it won't sound so much like a currency. But since this is "Big Bang Theory," everything is possible. Besides, Molaro said that when fans find out everything will make sense, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Nevertheless, who can forget Leonard's revelation in the previous season's finale that he apparently kissed someone else during his North Sea expedition. The new lady in Leonard's life is Mandy, who is going to be played by Melissa Tang. Molaro said that Penny could be fine with this at first. Thus, the wedding is really happening. However, Leonard is said to be determined to talk to Mandy to extinguish whatever fiery controversy they have.
Meanwhile, Leonard's best friend Sheldon will also have his own doze of romance after last season's breakup. It can be noted that Sheldon took out a ring just after Amy decided that they should just split. If the show is indeed going to pick up where it ended last season, then viewers will find out right away whether Sheldon is proposing to Amy. The producers even told Entertainment Weekly, "The fate of the ring Sheldon held at the end of the episode - and the fate of other rings - will be revealed."
As for Raj, he is going to to keep his relationship with Emily although he knows that they are not the best fit for each other. Molaro explained to TV Line that Raj is actually afraid of being alone now that his friends are starting to focus on their romantic relationships.
"I think he knows in his heart that this might not be the right person for him, but, for a sensitive and insecure guy like him, the thought of choosing to break up with someone and then be alone is difficult," Molaro dished.
"Big Bang Theory" Season 9 is set to air its premiere episode entitled "Matrimonial Momentum" on Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
