"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" has started its production in Atlanta as director James Gunn provided updates for fans via his social media accounts.
Last Sept. 13, Gunn posted on his Facebook page a photo of himself, James Wan and Vin Diesel from his send off party for Atlanta where he will work for ten months to film "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." He captioned it "Two Directors One Diesel, with Vin Diesel and James Wan at my going away party last night before I leave for Atlanta for ten months to shoot GotG Vol 2. One of the best times I've had in a while, with so many great friends. Thanks to all who came! - with Vin Diesel and James Wan."
Furthermore, Movieweb reported Gunn promised fans that he would do his best to have something to show them at Comic-Con 2016. He also disclosed that he and his crew will all be transferring to Atlanta in order to create huge movie sets.
He also revealed that he wanted the guardians to expose more of their private side and that there will be few additional characters in the sequel. Again, he reiterated that Captain Marvel will not be included due to the fact that he wanted Chris Pratt's Peter Quill to be the only being from Earth.
In the spontaneous Q&A session, James Gunn divulged that the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" soundtrack will feature 12 new songs. More importantly, he added that he would be happy if Marvel characters such as Bite Mite and Rom Spaceknight could be part of the sequel, but, unfortunately, the studio has no rights over these characters. Sneepers, an obscure alien group was also being eyed by the brilliant director but Marvel will not approve it, and this time the reason was not about the rights of the character but rather — Sneepers when translated to Icelandic is clitoris. Awkward, don't you think?
In the comics version though, Sneepers is an alien race that came from a planet called Sneep, who cultivated technology for space travel earlier than humans. They were also initially thought to be more advanced than humans but it turned out that humans surpassed their capabilities, as per Movieweb.
Meanwhile, Screen Rant reported that "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" will likely get another member to join the team. As to who it will be, fans will have to wait for James Gunn's update.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
