"Sister Wives" star Kody Brown has been receiving a slew of mixed responses from viewers since the controversial TLC series began airing in 2010. This week, his daughter to wife Janelle, Maddie, announced her engagement and many are intrigued if polygamy runs in the family.
Maddie shared the engagement news on Monday to her fans and followers on Instagram with a snap of her left hand sporting her engagement band. She captioned the photo "Happy to announce!" and also shared the link to People's story about her engagement to Caleb Brush.
In an exclusive interview, the 19-year-old star of "Sister Wives" said, "We are making plans for a wonderful outdoor wedding, hopefully in the country." However, there is no fixed date yet on when the couple will be exchanging their wedding vows.
Speaking on how her 28-year-old fiancé proposed to her, Kody's daughter stated, "It was cold and we were huddled in jackets and I thought he was crazy to stop. He said to come look over here. So I walked with him to the edge. He told me he could never express how much he loved me, but he wanted to spend his life trying, and went down in one knee and pulled out a box." She then revealed that before she even said yes, she started kissing Caleb out of joy.
Maddie also shared an emotional moment between her and her lover to Us Weekly, saying: "I showed Caleb the song I have wanted to walk down the [aisle] to since I was 15. He got a little emotional when hearing it. So sweet!!"
Since Maddie is part of the TLC reality series that documents the lives of her father and his four wives, many couldn't help but wonder if she and Caleb are planning to follow the polygamist lifestyle.
Brush set the record straight when he said, "We are not living plural marriage. We support Maddie's family with their choice of living plural marriage and they support us with our choice in just marrying each other."
Meanwhile, "Sister Wives" fans took to the show's official Facebook page to express their congratulations and share their reactions on Maddie Brown's engagement news.

Sara A. Charves commented: "So what if she did want plural marriage ....It's none of our business...it's between her and God...say what you want about her parents(I may not want polygamy for myself ...I may believe marriage is 1 man/1 woman) but the Browns have done a wonderful job with their children.. Congrats Maddie."
Ann Silba wrote: "Congrats Maddie, you look so happy. So happy for your decision not to go with plural marriage.. Wishing you all the happiness in the world."
