The Chevrolet Camaro 2016 is here to shock the automotive industry. For the first time in its existence, the beloved pony/muscle car will be available in a four-cylinder engine.
This move comes at a surprise as American Muscle Cars are usually equipped with V6 or V8 engines. But purists need not to worry as those engines are still available for the mid and high-end variants of the Chevrolet Camaro 2016.
According to Jalopnik, the 4-cylinder variant of the Chevrolet Camaro 2016 features a 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine that goes 0 to 60MPH in just under 6 seconds. To give you an exact figure, the manual transmission goes with 5.4 seconds while the automatic, with 5.5 seconds.
As reported by Forbes, those doubting the little engine that will be slapped on the beloved Chevy muscle car, the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine gives a whopping 275-horsepower, about the same power of a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS, that features a V8.
Many are wondering how on Chevrolet achieved that feat, that's because the new incarnation of the Camaro has reportedly shed almost 368 pounds, compared to the previous model, DIgital Trends has learned.
With a lighter body, expect the newest Camaro to still retain its power, while also becoming faster but with better fuel efficiency.
As for the other Chevrolet Camaro 2016 variants, the mid-level will be equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It boasts 355 horsepower and can go 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds with the automatic and 5.2 seconds with the manual transmission.
But for those who doesn't want any compromise and have extra money to burn, the purists can opt for the top of the line Chevrolet Camaro SS.
Equipped with a 6.2 liter V8 engine, 455 horsepower, the Camaro SS can go 0 to 60 in 4.0 seconds in an automatic while the manual takes 4.3 seconds.
Arguably the best Chevrolet Camaro to date, the car aims to give premium performance, for gear heads of all spectrum.
