While “Supernatural” Season 11 is not up until Oct. 7, fans continue to long for their favorite show and actors. This week, the spotlight is on Jared Padalecki’s wife, Genevieve Cortese, who actually appeared in the show in an earlier season. Get to know the loving wife of the Sam Winchester actor below.
Genevieve Padalecki (née Cortese) is the 34-year-old wife of actor Jared Padalecki. For avid viewers of the long-running CW series, she may look familiar to you since she's appeared on the show's fourth season as recurring character Ruby, a demon who first appeared as a blonde beauty hunter (played by Katie Cassidy) and lured Sam to work with her into killing Lilith.
Eventually, Ruby revealed her true form and self as a demon to Sam, who eventually engaged in an affair with her behind Dean's back. However, when the Winchester brothers uncovered her deceit, Genevieve's character was killed using her own knife, as per Wikia.
Though the "Supernatural" onscreen romance between Padalecki and Cortese ended too soon, it was channeled into a real-life romance for the two who dated and even got engaged in Oct. 2009.
The proposal was made extra-special by The CW actor as he popped the question at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, in front of their favorite painting.
Despite getting engaged in 2009, it was only in Jan. 2010 when the former "Supernatural" costars officially confirmed that they are tying the knot, according to Heavy.
In Feb. 27, 2010, Jared Padalecki and his then-fiancée walked the aisle in Sun Valley, Idaho, and it was the perfect wedding for Genevieve who had hoped for a white winter wedding.
In an interview with Sun Valley Magazine, Padalecki's wife was quoted as saying, "Being from Sun Valley, I was really hoping the snow reports were true. I was doing my best snow dance to the gods. It was clear the entire week and even on the morning of our wedding day, and then-Bam!-right around 4:30 the snow began to fall. So we consider it good luck and a blessing! It was definitely a white wedding."
It was three years after their wedding when Jared's wife gave birth to their first son, Thomas Colton. A year later, Jared and Genevieve welcomed another addition to their family, baby Shepherd.
At the time, the actor made the big baby announcement on Twitter. "Hey yall- gen and I did, indeed, experience a holiday miracle yesterday: Tony Romo didn't senselessly throw the game away!!" he first teased before adding, "Ok. For real ;) My amazingly strong wife home-birthed a happy and healthy baby boy last night :). Please send love," as quoted by Us Weekly.
To this day, Jared Padalecki and Genevieve share the same passionate love as they did when they started dating. Proof to that is the sweet photo the "Supernatural" star shared on Instagram for Throwback Thursday.
The photo he shared was reportedly the snap of the husband and wife on their wedding day which was held in Cortese's hometown, E! News reported.

Aside from "Supernatural," Genevieve has also appeared in a number of projects including "The Dead Zone," "Life Is Short," "Slated Nuts," "Kids and America" and "Flashforward," as seen on her IMDb profile. Nevertheless, she is best known as Kris Furillo in the 2005-2008 series entitled "Wildfire."
Fansided launched a poll on the "Supernatural" characters who fans want to see in Season 11, and Genevieve's Ruby was part of the list. Though her character may have died, there is still hope given that the show is known for resurrecting the dead every now and then.
Meanwhile, ahead of the premiere episode, Padalecki has recently opened up about what's to come for the Sam and Dean in episode 4 entitled "Baby," and here's what the actor has to say, "It's done in a very clever 'Supernatural' way, mind you, but episode four is a very cool episode."
He then continued to say, "It's all about the Impala. We've had this third lead character for 10 seasons strong and, we're not revealing a personality, but we see just how much a part of the Winchesters' lives it is," as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.
Don't miss the return of the show on The CW. Tune in on The CW on Oct. 7, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EDT for the premiere episode, and do the same for the succeeding Wednesday nights this fall season.
