Nickelodeon’s ‘90s Shows’ Return Designed For Millennials? The End Goal Of These Reruns Revealed!

Nickelodeon is rerunning its hit kid's shows from the '90s starting this October. The network has devoted a block programming called "The Splat" to these hit old-school shows, giving kids and kids at heart enough reason to stay up late from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Early this month, reports claiming Nickelodeon is reviving some of its hit '90s shows surfaced, which led many to discuss and guess which shows will be aired once more on national television.

According to Time, the rumors and speculations started when Nickelodeon president of content and development Russell Hicks hinted that the network was thinking of bringing back hit shows from almost two decades ago to the small screen of today's generation.

On Thursday, fans got the big confirmation when he official lineup of shows that will be aired on The Splat block, which lasts for eight hours, was revealed.

The '90s Nickelodeon shows that will be aired on TeenNick starting Oct. 5 are: "All That," "The Wild Thornberrys," "The Angry Beavers," "Hey Dude," "CatDog," "Hey Arnold," "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" "The Ren & Stimpy Show," "Clarissa Explains It All," "Rugrats," "Salute Your Shorts," "Kenan & Kel," "Rocko's Modern Life" and "Legends of the Hidden Temple."

The shows are expected to offer nostalgia to the millennials, who will most likely tune in to see the shows they grew up with back in the day.

While this may lead some to think that the rerun of the '90s Nickelodeon shows is targeted at attracting millennials and the new generation, the network is said to have one good plan behind the airing of the old-school shows.

The Mary Sue noted that Nicktoons is actually planning to make a big crossover movie for its hits shows just like how "Wreck It Ralph" gathered all-time favorite video game characters.

Whether or not the official The Splat lineup contains all the characters that will appear in the big screen crossover still remains a mystery. Besides, mixing the live-action shows with the cartoons could be very difficult as the actors who did the live-action shows are now all-grown up.

Interestingly, "Kenan & Kel" actors Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell made an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" this week and the two actors relived their "Good Burger" sketches for "All That" with host Jimmy Fallon, Vox reported. Does this mean mixing live-action and the cartoon shows is really happening? Well, if "Space Jam" did it, then the answer to the question could be a big "YES!"
