The hype over Microsoft's Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550 has blown out of proportion after photos of the internal presentation slides of the company's new phones were leaked ahead of the official release. Are there changes in the specs and features of the handsets compared to the previously leaked and rumored details?
Microsoft's trio Lumia offerings this fall are due to be publicly unveiled on Oct. 6 during a New York City event. However, the wait for the official specs and features of the devices may be over given that company slides of the new Lumia smartphones have landed online.
The good news with the slides however is the fact that they confirm the previous rumors that built up the hype over the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550, GSMArena has learned.
First, in terms of display, the Lumia 950 XL will officially hits stores with a 5.7-inch QHD display. The Lumia 950 will have a smaller 5.2-inch WQHD OLED screen, while the Lumia 55 will come with a 5-inch HD display.
The largest handset in the trio also proves to be a competitive flagship since it will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC. As for its smaller brother, the Lumia 950, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. The Lumia 550 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and a Quad-core CPU clocked at 1GHz.
Both the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL will be equipped with iris scanners for Windows Hello, which according to WindowsCentral, is Microsoft's new biometric system for Windows 10.
Whether you are going for the Lumia 950 or the Lumia 950 XL, you are bound to enjoy the outstanding camera technology Microsoft has incorporated in the two smartphones: a 20-megapixel PureView back camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. The Lumia 550 will get a decent 5-megapixel shooter for its primary camera and a 2-megapixel shooter for its front.
Battery is dependent on the size of the device. The Lumia 950 XL gets a 3,300 mAh battery that supports Qi wireless charging. The Lumia 950 comes with a 3,000 mAh unit, while the entry-level Lumia has a decent 1,905 mAh battery.
According to PCWorld, the leaked slides of the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and the Lumia 550 also described the target consumers of the devices. One slide says the phones are for "everyone who wants to do more; enjoy their daily lives; and share with the people who matter most to them."
