The Supermoon and Lunar Eclipse happened last night and many people from all around the world got to witness this magnificent event.
As reported by the BBC, people from all over the world waited and looked up at the skies to observe, or for some, get a glimpse of this event.
Last night, both the Supermoon and Lunar Eclipse happened at the same time, a phenomenon that was last observed in 1982 and won't happen again until 2033.
To briefly explain, a Supermoon occurs when the Moon is in the closest part of its orbit to Earth, making it appear larger in the sky. On the other hand, a Lunar Eclipse happens when the shadow of our planet falls across the Moon.
This rare event was reported to have been visible in North America, South America, West Africa and Western Europe. Observers from the western half of North America, the rest of Europe and Africa, the Middle East and South Asia were the ones expected to only see a partial eclipse.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the good thing about this event is that you don't need any special tricks or high-tech equipment; you just have to directly look up in the sky and you can freely observe the moon at its brightest.
Plenty of people also took to their social media to share their photos of the Lunar Eclipse/Supermoon.
However, some are a bit disappointed that they missed this rare phenomena due to a myriad of concerns. The number one culprit? Very cloudy skies.
Yes, it may have been reported that your area will have a view of the Supermoon and Lunar Eclipse, but due to the weather in your city, you might have missed it.
As reported by Telegraph, people from Australia entirely missed it, since, during that time, the country was in broad daylight.
Did you catch a glimpse of this glorious event?
