Jim Carrey's girlfriend, Cathriona White, a 28-year-old make-up artist, was found dead in her suburban apartment in Los Angeles on Monday night. The sudden death of the comedian's Irish girlfriend was described as an apparent suicide.
The body of Cathriona White, who was Jim Carrey's girlfriend until last week, was discovered in Sherman Oaks. According to The Telegraph, Los Angeles assistant chief coroner Ed Winter that the death was suspected to be an overdose after they found pills next to her body. Winter also said that an autopsy would be carried out.
"She was found by a couple of friends who were concerned for her," a Los Angeles coroner's official said. "They discovered her at her residence sometime after 8pm last night. There were pills near her. They called 911. It was reported as a suicide. Evidently there was a note which either referenced Mr Carrey or was addressed to him."
Meanwhile, Jim Carrey has also released a statement about his ex-girlfriend's death, saying he was "shocked and deeply saddened" by Cathriona White's death, Los Angeles Times noted.
"She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled..." Carrey said in a statement, as per Us Weekly. "We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
