Tim Tebow is an ex-NFL player who is known for his philanthropic works. And just recently, his video goes viral on social media when he surprised a 13-year-old cancer patient by visiting him in the hospital, which resulted to an epically emotional encounter.
Tim Tebow's viral video was shared on Facebook by Tim Tebow Foundation, Fox News Insider revealed. As of late, it has already almost 7 million views, over 122,000 likes and more than 100,000 shares. But what caught the netizens' attention? Well, it was Nathaniel Nelson's emotional reaction when he saw the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.
In the video, 13-year-old Nelson, who has been undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, burst into tears in his hospital bed. His tears flowed down on his cheeks when he saw Tim Tebow entered his room. According Independent Journal, Nelson was overwhelmed after seeing Tebow because he was such a huge Florida Gators' fan.
On Wednesday, Tim Tebow made starstuck Nathaniel Nelson's dream come true as he surprised him for a joyous yet tearful hospital stopover. Tebow told Nelson that he had received several messages from people telling him what a special young man he was that made the 28-year-old ex-NFL quarterback to meet him.
"I probably had about 15 people contact me and tell me about you and how awesome you are and how so many people are praying for you. So I said, 'I just have to come see you,'" Tebow said. And Nelson replied, "Wow. Thanks for coming and visiting me."
Nelson's battle with cancer was documented and followed by First Coast News. Despite the tough fight, Tim Tebow made it better by visiting Nelson in the hospital where Nelson has been confined for almost two months after his diagnosis in August, Yahoo! Sports has learned.
"I just busted out laughing. I was laughing inside. And then it brings tears of joy and then I thank him for coming to visit me because, I mean, he's Tim Tebow," Nelson said. "Meeting Tim Tebow was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Meanwhile, Tim Tebow has received considerable press attention for his public displays of religious faith, both on and off the field. As per Today, he has regularly visited children at hospitals throughout his football career. Last year, he also opened the Tebow CURE hospital in the Philippines, where he was born when his parents were serving there as missionaries.
Even though his latest NFL comeback attempt was unsuccessful, he remains a Hall of Famer to Nathaniel Nelson. Watch the Tim Tebow's viral hospital visit video below.
