The couple, who have a combined net worth of $3 million, have been very open about their finances over the years. But the recent rumors are reportedly untrue.
Reality television couple Tori Spelling and Dean MCDermott are not broke but only victims of blatant sensationalism. According to Gossip Cop, OK! was twisting recent events to make the couple's financial situations looked worst including photos of their family eating samples at a farmer's market as they film a Cooking Channel show, calling it a "feeding frenzy" and "cost-cutting measure."
In addition, the magazine also cited the Spelling's lawsuit against Benihana as a "pure cash grab."
"They need to cash in where they can," an insider claimed. "That's what happens when you have no money and four kids." While another source added, "At this point, they need a miracle to save them from debt."
The tabloid, however, was not the first to report that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were broke. In fact, Celeb Dirty Laundry claimed that the financial situation of the couple has hit "all-time low." And since they desperately needed money, they were allegedly begging their family and friends for cash. Spelling was also on the verge of losing her storage units since she was unable to pay her fees.
The celebrity gossip site added that Tori Spelling's storage bill costs almost $1,000 per month. And the storage company was even threatening her by losing her units and auctioning her treasured items if she can't pay her dues.
Despite having an individual net worth of $1.5 million as listed by Celebrity Net Worth, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are still completely broke, The Hollywood Gossip noted.
"After Tori asked a close friend, another well-known actress, for money, it really became apparent the family is in trouble," the insider explained. "She owes tuition payments for Liam and Stella's private schools, and is also in danger of losing possessions at a storage facility."
The couple's pals have also reportedly suggested that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are planning to get jobs outside of their show. However, Spelling slammed the suggestion, saying she doesn't know how to do anything else, In Touch Weekly has learned.
