While nothing has been set in stone about the Nintendo NX, fans of the Kyoto, Japan-headquartered electronics company are already anticipating the upcoming console since the WIi U, which turned out to be a disappointment for many gamers, was released in the market.
The lack of official word or update from Nintendo has led many tech and gaming sites to create their own speculations on what the console's features are. WhatCulture has listed the features they want to see in Nintendo NX, and one of which is for the console to offer a subscription service instead of a cash per game approach.
Though the touchscreen in the Wii U did not receive the reception Nintendo was hoping for its device, the site noted that having a touchscreen display in the Nintendo NX could be a great addition. However, WhatCulture noted that it should not really be a real touchscreen, but a subtle one that works only for certain functions like in-game maps.
On the other hand, Gameranx has learned that the Nintendo NX could come with two components: the Fusion DS and the Fusion Terminal. While the DS is functional on its own, the Terminal has a processor. Hence, combining both would boost the power of the console.
Another rumor that emerged early this year claimed that a patent has revealed that as opposed to using CDs, DVDs and the like, Nintendo may be going back to using cartridges for the NX console because the latter offers huge flash storage.
Meanwhile, though Nintendo suffered with having developers on board its Wii U console, the Nintendo NX is a different case with Gaming Bolt reporting that developers are now lining up to make games for the upcoming Nintendo console.
The makers of Pokemon have already confirmed that they will be creating a game for the NX. Spike Chunsoft has also announced its intention of working on a game for the platform. However, the latter did not spill the beans on the specifics of the game or games it will be making for the Nintendo NX.
Chunsoft plans to work on projects for the NX prior to expanding into the PlayStation 4 and PC platform. "For stationary consoles, we'll focus on PlayStation 4. After, Nintendo's new hardware, the NX," Spike Chunsoft CEO Mitsutoshi Sakurai was quoted as saying by Express. "I would also like to start fully working on Steam."
