Adidas continues its quest for innovation with the Adidas Futurcraft, a custom-made running sneaker sole that uses 3D printing technology.
Using the combination of 3D printing and existing feet scanning technology, the Futurecraft 3D will let every people have the "bespoke" experience.
According to GQ, Adidas said in a statement that, "Creating a flexible, fully breathable carbon copy of the athlete's own footprint, matching exact contours and pressure points."
Furthermore, "It will set the athlete up for the best running experience. Linked with existing data sourcing and foot scan technologies, it opens unique opportunities for immediate in-store fittings."
As reported by Gizmodo, Adidas teamed up with Belgian manufacturing company, Materialise, to create the Adidas 3D printed sole.
In a similar report by Engadget, once the Futurecraft 3D is released, customers can now simply walk in a store, jog on a treadmill for a bit, have your feet measured and walk-out of the store with a shoe specifically made for your feet and running gait.
With this ground breaking move from Adidas, every runner and customer will now have the signature sneaker experience currently enjoyed by pro athletes.
But Adidas is not stopping there. According to the company's website, the Futurecraft 3D is just the first chapter of the Adidas 3D series. This demonstrates the brand's commitment to innovating and its aim to make custom and innovative sneakers more accessible than ever.
Regarding the looks of the shoe, Adidas showed a sneak peek of the prototype and it has some design similarities with their existing sneaker, the Adidas Ultraboost.
In addition, Adidas said that they will announce more ground-breaking design innovations in the coming six months, which will further boost the German sneaker company in its mission to be the best sports brand in the world.
And although Adidas is not the first shoe company to create 3D-printed shoes, it seems that the company will be the first to offer the so-called "bespoke experience."
