"Enchanted 2" is going to happen with the original film's star, Amy Adams, agreeing to return. But the sequel's title, seems to be cringe-inducing as it will be called "Disenchanted."
Disney may be known for its many beautiful, fresh and clever movies; however, it seems that they have run out of ideas when it comes to thinking a new title for the "Enchanted" sequel.
As reported by Movie Pilot, since 2010, Disney has been releasing tiny details regarding the development of "Enchanted 2." One of the first announcements they made was when they hired the movie's director, which was followed by an announcement of a new pair of screenwriters and lastly, when they finally revealed the movie's working title which would be "Disenchanted."
Critics are hoping that this is just a working title and not a final one as most of them found it to be cheesy and really horrible.
According to Cinema Blend, Disney chose to hire a new person to head the sequel is because the film's original director, Kevin Lima, will not be returning. However, the person replacing him at the helm is none other than Anna Fletcher, who's known for a string of hit movies such as "Step Up," "27 Dresses" and "The Proposal."
In a related report by Collider, Disney originally planned to release a new "Tron" sequel but decided to scrap it in favor of "Enchanted 2: Disenchanted." The reason behind this move is that a sequel to the live-action fairy tale movie is much less expensive and a much safer choice, as compared to another "Tron" movie.
Apart from Amy Adams, it is still unknown who among the cast of the original movie is set to return. However, Susan Sarandon, the movie's villain, expressed her enthusiasm about reprising her role.
As for the targeted time of release for the movie, Disney has yet to announce a specific date.
But even with almost a decade of development, excited and loyal fans are still hoping that the movie be released anytime soon.
