'Pan' Premieres Today; Cast Garrett Hedlund, Hugh Jackman Talk About Playing Hook, Blackbeard & Director Joe Wright

"Pan," which is under the tutelage of Joe Wright, premieres today, and this film is will explore the origin of Peter Pan, played by Levi Miller, according to WMUR. Peter was given up by his mother, played by Amanda Seyfried, when he was still an infant, and was raised in a London during World War II — before Neverland.

"Pan" will not only explore the genesis of Peter; it will also tackle how Captain Hook, Tiger Lily, played by Rooney Mara, and Blackbeard came into the picture.

In this movie, Peter and James Hook, played by Garrett Hedlund aren't enemies, yet. That said, "Pan" will be having a different villain in the form of Hugh Jackman's Blackbeard.

Hedlund said, in a phone conversation, that the audience will meet Peter before he knew how to fly and Captain Hook before the hook, AZCentral reported. He revealed that the character and the setting were different interpretation than he expected.

"When I first met with Joe (Wright), I was curious how he wanted me to play Captain Hook, Hedlund said. "Think of Captain Hook to be someone out of a John Ford film, and if he wasn't in Neverland, he'd be on a horse on a prairie."

Many are aware of the feud between Peter Pan and Captain Hook, but only a few connect with Blackbeard. In a separate interview of Bio with Jackman, he was asked what the appeal of the role to him was because fans have noticed that he was a bliss playing the character.

"Well, I'd always wanted to play a role like this — the swashbuckling, sword-fighting, pirate-adventure stuff. I loved that kind of thing when I was a little boy, and it turns out it was tremendous fun to do as a grown man!" Jackman replied.

The "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star revealed that a lot of the fun experience had something to do with director Wright. He said that the director was unique, and he was thankful for this collaboration.

While many look forward to seeing "Pan," others believe that exploring how it all began is not really necessary. According to some critics, sometimes, these mysteries are best to be left alone.

Nonetheless, "Pan" will open in theaters today. Weekend Box Office results will follow, so stay tuned.
