Apple Pay, Apple Inc.'s mobile-payment service, will now be accepted into Starbucks Coffee Shops around the U.S. This move now lets you pay easier for a cup of your favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte.
According to the Wall Street Journal, starting this year, the largest coffee chain in America will now start accepting Apple Pay in some of their stores.
In addition to the report, Apple's head of payments Jennifer Bailey, said at a conference that by the end of 2016, all 7,500 Starbucks stores in the U.S will accept the mobile-payment scheme by Apple.
As reported by The Verge, this move signifies that anyone with an Apple pay compatible device, like the Apple Watch or newer iPhones, will now get to pay every Starbucks purchase with just a tap of their device.
However, while all items from the coffee chain can be paid through Apple, there are reports that said that you will not be getting any loyalty rewards for doing so. Starbuck's own app does track these so for those interested in loyalty points, that seems to be a better option.
Outside of the U.S stores, there are already a handful of Starbucks stores that accept the tap-to-pay option, including Apple Pay.
In a related report by Reuters, apart from Starbucks, KFC and casual dining restaurant chain Chilli's, were also reported to be supporting Apple's mobile payment service.
But, according to interviews done by Reuters, analysts have said that a large number of merchants and other retailers are still reluctant to use Apple Pay.
In addition, they said that Apple's forecast may be a tad too optimistic and may have a hard time fulfilling their projected number of stores that will use their payment services.
Furthermore, customer demand for mobile payment is still very low and analysts have said that it's still just a small percentage of U.S retail transactions.
