The NFL has come under fire since the start of pre-season because of lousy play calling on behalf of the NFL's replacement referees.
Green Bay Mayor James Schmitt fired off an angry letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as promised claiming the labor dispute with referees is threatening the Packers on-field success, putting the entire Wisconsin town in financial jeopardy.
TMZ.com obtained a copy of the letter (See Letter Here). In the letter, the Mayor claims the NFL's elite status is being "threatened by less than qualified official who are not quite at the same level as the rest of the league's representatives."
According to TMZ.com Mayor Schmitt continued to say "last night's game creates a negative perception on the NFL brand, which in truth jeopardizes the Packers' chance for success as well as the potential to negatively affect our local economy."
Mayor Schmitt is a shareholder of the publicly owned Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay Packers offensive guard Josh Sitton wants his team to go on strike.
Sitton appeared Tuesday on The Jim Rome Show where he complained that his team was not doing enough to go after NFL officials who threw away a Packers victory during the last few seconds of play on Sunday.
At this very moment union officials and NFL owners are meeting to discuss an end to the NFL referee lockout.
