"Castle" Season 8 Episode 4 is getting more and more interesting as Rick Castle still tries to woo Beckett back. And while the controversial breakup shook things up in the show, co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley must have had better plans as there are still many other changes to take place on the show.
Before delving into the latest twists in the latest season of the ABC series, let's first talk about "Castle" Season 8 Episode 4 entitled, "What Lies Beneath."
According to International Business Times, Rick will be investigating the death of his idol while dealing with his marital woes with Beckett.
"When the mystery novelist's idol, a famously reclusive author, turns up dead, he is determined to solve his hero's murder," the synopsis of the upcoming episode read, as per CarterMatt. "But as he and Beckett dig deeper, they discover that truth is stranger than fiction."
While "Castle" Season 8 Episode 4 is yet to convince the audience with its new plot twist, cast member Nathan Fillion said that new showrunners are trying to restore the dynamics of the show. And here are three interesting twist we knew so far about the eighth season of "Castle."
1. Rick and Beckett's temporary breakup
Nathan Fillion, who plays the role of Rick Castle," recently revealed that the couple's separation was planned by the showrunners because they wanted fans to go back when they still rooted for the Castle and Beckett.
"First of all, I asked them if they were high," Fillion quipped told TVLine. "Second, they reassured me that what was going was they wanted to get back to a time when people were rooting for the couple, rooting for them to get together, to do something."
2. As things get intense in "Castle" Season 8 Episode 4, showrunners are finding ways to incorporate comedic plotlines.
Both Winter and Hawley do not consider "Castle" as a drama show. So, Design & Trend noted that Fillion revealed the showrunners are trying their best to bring back lighter episodes.
"It's never been much of a drama; it's far more a comedy with dramatic and heartfelt moments," Fillion explained. "And they wanted to bring it back to a time when it was funny, when it was great, when it was the light-hearted show that everybody fell in love with."
3. Despite the split, the showrunners reassure fans that their favorite crime-fighting couple will still be spending plenty of time together.
Winter revealed that Castle will realized the way he can get my wife back and it is by doing the same thing he did when they fell in love the first time, working cases with her, Us Weekly reported.
"He finds a way to worm his way into her cases," Winter explained. "What ends up happening is, of course, we get to a place where Castle and Beckett are building theory together, figuring out who's behind whatever the murder of the week is. We get to see little pieces of that electricity we haven't gotten to see for a while now."
