Iman Shumpert, Cleveland Cavaliers' young swingman, is not only a professional basketball player, but he is also an aspiring rapper.
Although it is clear that he's not the most dominant basketball player in the league, the former New York Knicks player can actually rap pretty well. As reported by Bleacher Report, Shumpert dropped a hot track last Thursday and called it, "Highlight Reel."
The rap song is not exactly an original track but simply a remix of Drake's popular hit, "Hotline Bling." In the song, the NBA star rapped about his team's loss to the Golden State Warriors in the finals, his new contract, how good he is and the amount of hard work it takes to be a pro player.
The song features the lines "See I'm an Oak Parker / So I root for Chicago / And I lived in a brownstone / She grew up in Harlem."
Interestingly, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, this is not the first time Shumpert dabbled into rap music. Back in 2013, he released "Dear Kendrick" in response to Kendrick Lamar's verse in the song "Control."
Furthermore, after signing his $40 million contract, he released a track called "290 West" and has a strong message of "more money, more problems."
The song goes, "This song is the conversation I would have with my audience in the sense that I'm venting to them about my everyday and ongoing battle of being a bread winner back home."
Iman Shumpert was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2011 NBA Draft. But after almost four years with the team, he was traded along with team mate J.R Smith to the Cavs, which resulted into his first NBA finals appearance.
And according to Yahoo! Music, unlike some NBA players who also claim that they are rappers, Shump really lives up to his claim as so far, every track he released received good reception.
