The HP Chromebook 14 is a much improved Chrome OS-running laptop that offers a bigger a competitive 14-inch display, different processor, better battery and so much more. The big question now is: When can consumers get the chance to finally purchase this device?
From the get-go, Chromebooks were designed to be budget-friendly laptops that instead of running Windows, it came with Google's Chrome OS. This is obviously an advantage and not a disadvantage since it just ensures that the device's price tag won't be that expensive.
Hardware-wise, the Chromebooks were designed with simplicity and affordable pricing in mind, so the newly announced iteration does not stray from its previous design and material build.
Despite being a budget laptop, the HP Chromebook 14 has a lot of magic up its sleeve, mostly its all thanks to high-end features and extras, according to CNET.
The HP Chromebook 14 2015 edition comes with a full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution. What's more is that the display has been enhanced because of the IPS panel that prevents it from looking faded at certain angles.
HP decided to ditch the NVIDIA chip for this laptop and instead used an Intel Celeron N2840, which according to the company yields better performance.
It will come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a battery that is expected to last for up t 9 hours and 15 minutes, as per Android Authority. This laptop will also sport USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and a microSD slot.
The new iteration of HP's 14-inch Chromebook will also come with a two-year 100GB Google Drive space which is good news for consumers who are already reliant to the cloud-based tools and storage for their files. Three Google Play movie rentals will also be provided upon purchase although it isn't clear if this option is only until the holiday season. Similarly, users will also enjoy a 90-day Google Play Music free trial.
Finally, perhaps the most noteworthy freebie of the Chromebook 14 is the 12-month access to GoGo in-flight Internet service for free.
Engadget has learned that the Chrome OS-running laptop will be released in the United States come Nov. 8, and the pricing, according to the site, starts at $250 or $280.
