“South Park” is having a blast this season, and episode 5 entitled “Safe Place” will tell you why. The all-new episode this Wednesday night will feature new things to laugh at after the previous episode which took another week to air. Anyway, the new episode will put body-shaming under the microscope. Plus, it will also cover the different advocacies that are typically asking for help in stores and malls and almost every business establishment.
The previous episode, "You're Not Yelping" poked fun and somehow exposed the controversies behind the review program Yelp. The episode showed Cartman taking advantage of his Yelper status. As a food critic he demanded more free servings in exchange for good reviews, as per Movie News Guide.
Though the episode did present the usual humor of the Comedy Central cartoon, it may have rubbed Yelp the wrong way causing the company to file a $10 million lawsuit against Comedy Central and "South Park" creators.
NBC reported has since asked for payment for the damages episode 4 caused it for lampooning its platform. Yelp Inc. even noted in its official statement about the lawsuit that the previous episode was "in extremely bad taste and not funny whatsoever."
However, the creators of the famous cartoon series were quick to slam the lawsuit. Matt Stone and Trey Parker issued a statement saying that they only gave the lawsuit one star adding, "Their lawyers delivered us legal documents in a very unprofessional manner; not bothering to smile or even a quick handshake. The writing on the envelope was barely legible and in two different colors. It is our personal opinion that Yelp could do a much better job by not suing us for ten million dollars."
Despite the lawsuit, "South Park" will continue to air its new episodes every Wednesdays, and this week is no different. Episode 5 entitled "Safe Space" will take a look at how some advocacies can make one feel like a total jerk. And in tonight's episode, the biggest jerk for Whole Foods is Randy.
Apparently, Randy will be confronted with a controversial donation issue. When he gets in line to pay for the things he's purchasing from Whole Foods the clerk will ask him if he is willing to donate a dollar for the hungry kids. Randy does not feel like doing so for personal reasons, but the clerk makes it seem like he is a big jerk for not caring for the needs of the hungry kids. This is obviously based on real-life dilemmas many people face every time they purchase something from the mall or other establishments.
Meanwhile, Eric Cartman will also be front and center when "South Park" Season 19 Episode 5 airs tonight since he will be the latest victim of body-shaming. When he gets bullied on Twitter, he will be forced to exit the social networking site according to Tech Times. We will also see more of the unwanted repercussions of body-shaming in the epsiode.
The official synopsis of "South Park" Season 19 Episode 5 according to the South Park website: "Cartman is the latest victim of body shaming." Another synopsis details: "Randy has to deal with uncomfortable confrontations every time he shops at the new Whole Foods. He feels exposed at every turn and it's ruining his Whole Foods experience. Randy and Cartman are both seeking a safe space."
