If you are having a normal pregnancy, you know you're healthy and your workplace is safe, then it's possible to continue working until the day you deliver your baby or days closer to it. You actually don't need to worry about working. You just have to be cautious at work especially in the days leading to the end of your pregnancy in which you will tend to get tired easily.
Here are some of ideas on what to do when you are pregnant and you opted to continue working:
Easing vomiting and nausea
According to Parents, up to 85 percent of pregnant women experience vomiting frequently. Taking small, healthy snacks throughout the day can help you manage your blood sugar and curb your nausea. You can also have some gingersnaps, ginger ale and lemon drops which, according to some, is very helpful too. If you feel like the symptoms is too much and you can't handle it anymore, better consult your physician about it.
Dress Professionally
With your baby bump getting bigger, dressing for work won't be as easy as before. It would require you to invest in new corporate wardrobe. You just have to adapt with your changing body by using clothes designed for maternity. There are a vast range of well-made, comfortable and on-trend business maternity outfits online like that from Motherhood or other shops. If you don't want to spend a lot, you can try asking your friends and families for any unwanted maternity wear.
Know Your Rights at Work
Learn about your company's maternity leave policies and what the laws allow. You can ask someone who has previously negotiated a leave package with your company — what she got out of it, what she did and what advices can she advise you while working as a mom-to-be. If you still don't have a copy of this document, you can always get one from your personnel director. If your company still doesn't have maternity leave policies or is small enough to be legally required for one, then you must be the very first person to negotiate it with your company. You can check out other maternity leave policies of other companies to give you more information about the matter.
If you can't handle your pregnancy situation anymore or you think working is getting more difficult for you, then you have to take a break. Remember, what matters most is the life you have and that of your baby. Do you still have more ideas to share? Leave a comment below.
