"Supergirl" will air tonight on CBS, and, apparently, one of the U.S. Presidential candidates for the 2016 election thinks Melissa Benoist's character is so hot. He even said that he was looking forward for her show's premiere.
Jeb Bush, the brother of the former U.S. President George W. Bush, was asked during a Q&A with the LIBRE initiative who was his favorite Marvel superhero and why. NPR learned that the former Governor of Florida replied that he likes old-school guys like Batman.
That may sound a little awkward, considering that Batman is a DC character, but wait until you hear what Bush added in his statement. He said he saw an ad on the television about "Supergirl" when he was working out this morning.
"She looked pretty hot," he continued. "I don't know what channel it's on, but I'm looking forward to that."
Many will agree that Benoist's character looks really hot, but there are some critics who did not like the politician's comment, stating it was inappropriate. There are also some who said that these types of comments distract from the focus of the campaign.
On the lighter side, it's an indication that the ad about CBS' new show is getting noticed.
Other than being hot, TV Guide stated that CBS' "Supergirl" was the hero of the recent times. The choices she made — settling a normal life or becoming a hero to protect humanity — depicts the character of being a woman of strength and power.
Benoist is the lead cast for "Supergirl," playing as Kara Denvers. She will be joined by former "Grey's Anatomy" actress Chyler Leigh, who will play as her sister Alex Denvers and Mechad Brooks as James Olsen.
Laura Benanti will also join the cast as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane — Lois Lane's sister, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw.
"Supergirl" is produced by Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, the same guys who produced The CW's "Arrow" and "The Flash."
The new CBS show is based on DC Comics and centers in the story of Kara, who escaped planet Krypton with her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman. She was raised, on Earth, by the Danvers and to keep her identity a secret, her powers had to be concealed.
"Supergirl" will have a special airing tonight, Oct. 26, at 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It will move to its regular time slot, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 2.
