Whenever you are getting ready to go buy something ask yourself do you need it or do you want it? Many times we shop or buy on impulse, appetite or want. Remind yourself of how many minutes or hours you ave to either stand up working or racking your brain for that something you are just about to buy.
There are ways to save the hard earned money that you work instead of splurging in your spare time or spending during lunchtime and breaks. In these hard economic times, it is vital to bring out that childhood ppiggy bank and deposit your pennies-go back to basics.
If your work place has a cafeteria eat there if the prices are cheaper. Better yet, if you can portion out yuour sizes or if you go to a restaurant that pays by weight, bring your own container and control the portions, smaller size equals smaller price. Better yet, bring your own lunch. Don't have time? Think simple. Bringing fruits for breakfast, vegetables for lunch takes not even 5 minutes to pack the night before.
Can't seem to kick that caffeine habit? Prepare your coffee or tea from home and bring it hot with your early in the morning. Research has shown that mindful eating can play a pivotal part in portion control and excessive eating as it makes you more mindful of your body's reactions to food, satiety and thirst. Try taking small sips and enjoy the taste and texture of the liquids bursting flavor or soothing, aromatic herbals onto your tongue and travelling down your throat. Be mindful of your food and eating. Avoid the big gulps. Take advantage of the coffee or tea provided at work for free. If there is hot boiled water on-site you can bring your mug and refill whilst bringing your own tea bags or coffee grains.
Carpooling is a great means of transportation which will save you money on gas if you own your own car, or transportation money if you use public transport. Carpooling is a great way to converse with colleagues and build amicable relations.
Keeping extra shoes at work can be helpful to prevent the wear and tear of clothes or shoes. Wear one shoes to go to work and have an extra pair for the workplace.
If you get invited for lunch out with your boss or co-workers you can avoid the expensive meals and opt for salads, soups. At parties or celebrations you can avoid big spending by offering to bring bottled water, paper utensils and plates.
Donations and charity may be asked of you. Instead opt for donating online since your contribution will be private.
Bring your own water. You can also contribute to the environment by not buying plastic bottled water. Simply get a reusable bottle made of stainless steel (David Suzuki)
Bring your own snacks to munch on.
Remember the energy for preparation means more calories burnt!
Don't smoke. Cigarretts are expensive and do not contribute to your health.
Feeling stressed? Take a walk outside. If possible go around nature, trees, fresh air to calm your being. Stress can lead to a spending splurge and become an outlet for relief. Redirect your energeis elsewhere.
