Kevin Durant is without a doubt, one of the most dominant NBA players right now.
After almost a year of absence, the 2013 MVP is back and better than ever. So far he and the Oklahoma Thunder is doing a good job early this season that in fact, Durant is playing so good that he is being targeted by his hometown team, the Washington Wizards.
According to the Washington Times, the now 27-year-old NBA star has sharpened his edges and is now popping shots like its nothing.
With his impending free agency just a year away, the Washington Wizards was reported to have aligned the last three years of roster moves and salary cap space to make room for him when 2016 comes.
However, Durant is still waiting until next July to deal with his decision. According to him, he just tries to go about every day and focus on it. He added, "I try not to think about the future too much. Just worry about that stuff when I get there. Basically, I've been saying I don't know for a long, long time. I'm just focused on our team, and I'm happy I'm playing again. That takes over."
Wizard fans may be even more disappointed when Durant called them "disrespectful."
As reported by ESPN, the Wizards and their fans are not exactly hiding their wish to have their hometown kid return to Washington as a free agent.
But Durant again dismissed the idea and told in an interview that the fans are "kind of disrespectful" to current Wizards players.
CBS Sports added that Durant further said that in his opinion, the Wizards already have a great team and that it deserves the fans' full and 100 percent support. He reiterated that he would not want if he is in that particular team and the fans are actively pining for a different player.
Durant said, "I'm really not good with attention," he said. "I really don't like all this stuff to be centered around me. It comes with it, it's a part of it, but I'm still getting used to it. I learned to embrace it a little bit more, but it's still a little awkward for me."
Basketball analyst Max Kellerman agreed to Durant's sentiments and said that some fans did not take kindly to the OKC star's words. During Tuesday night's game between the Wizards and the Thunders, the fans booed Durant every time he touched the ball.
But with Durant's game getting better and better, it's hard to blame Wizards fans for voicing out their desire to get one of the most dominant players in the league today.
