Gerald Green was suspended by the Miami Heat after it was reported that he allegedly engaged in a conduct detrimental to the team.
According to Miami CBS, Green's suspension will start immediately and that made him miss the game versus the Los Angeles Lakers and also the upcoming Thursday game against the Utah Jazz.
Green said in a statement, "I want to apologize to my family, fans and the Heat organization," said Green. "I accept the suspension and look forward to re-joining my teammates this weekend."
According to CBS Sports, Miami Heat said in a press release that it is suspending Green for two games. Saying that he will after the two-game ban, he will re-join the team this Friday in a match against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Miami Heat star was taken to the hospital last Wednesday for an undisclosed reason following a freak incident outside of his condo building.
In a 911 call obtained by gossip website TMZ, the person who called 911 said that Green was bleeding and had passed out in the valet area outside the building.
In addition, multiple witness said that the 29-year-old forward was acting rather strangely and yelling loudly in the condo's lobby and that it took several people to restrain him in order to put him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
Heat president Pat Riley was asked about the issue and answered in a deflective manner saying "It's personal and I'm going to leave it at that."
As for head coach Erik Spoelstra, he did not also give a specific answer when he addressed the situation. However, Spoelstra mentioned that although the incident was disturbing, Green was healthy and safe during his hospital stay.
And although Gerald Green and the Miami Heat is keeping mum regarding these incidents, it is quite clear that these two separate events are related with each other.
Bleacher Report added that Green was ill the night before the incident occurred and the team treated him. So far, the Heat forward has only played in three games this season, with his last match was on Nov. 1, against his former team the Phoenix Suns.
Green is averaging 11.9 point and 1.9 tree-pointers per game this season and was signed to the Heat for a one-year deal.
He was brought to the team to provide depth on the wing and to ease the scoring burden of the 33-year-old franchise player, Dwyane Wade and 30-year-old Luol Deng.
