BlizzCon is arguably one of, if not, the most anticipated event in the video game industry.
There are many reasons why it's successful, apart from Blizzard's stellar titles, this year's BlizzCon has a lot of something to boast about. Check them out.
1. Wil Wheaton and Linkin Park Is Featured This Year
According to Trusted Reviews, beloved sci-fi actor and comedy nerd Wil Wheaton hosted this year's BlizzCon. And to make the convention even more exciting, Linkin Park was there to perform for the show.
As reported, this year is easily one of the most enjoyable conventions that Blizzard fans has seen in ages. It was filled with announcement, an exciting host and, of course, great performances.
2. The New Warcraft film Trailer Was Unveiled
We know by now that most films based on video games tends to be bad. The reason for this is usually due to Hollywood executives who simply licenses an IP and then the people responsible for creating the video game itself is ignored on the creative process for the movie. The result? A movie who is only connected to the game via name and nothing else.
But it seems, the "Warcraft" film unveiled at the BlizzCon does not look bad. In fact, it quite looks great if we were to base it on the trailer.
The "Warcraft" film may be the first time a video game-turned-movie manages to become great on its own.
3. The New World of Warcraft Expansion
Speaking of "Warcraft," the game's latest expansion, "Legion," was also unveiled. It is reportedly being aimed at both newbies and veterans of the game.
Why? Because apparently newbie players who do not have the patience have the option of boosting straight to the required level to play it.
As for the veterans who love the grind of leveling up manually, that option is obviously still available and still is the preferred way to play the game.
In addition, the game kicks off with the players going to a demon-held shattered land and features a situation where gamers are joining a war in progress — right in the middle of it.
4. Overwatch Received A Cool New Character
Of course, apart from classic Blizzard games, its latest addition, "Overwatch" also received new playable characters.
But according to Kotaku, the most hyped out addition has to be the pro gamer-turned-mech pilot "D.Va" who features huge mechanical arms.
5. Statues! Statues! Statues!
BlizzCon won't be complete without amazing video game inspired sculptures!
In a report by IGN, BlizzCon showcased the statues of Illidan Stormrage, a Terran Warrior from "Star Craft II," an Orc riding a wolf and Winston from "Overwatch."
All in all, this is definitely the biggest and greatest BlizzCon so far. Which begs the question, how will Blizzard top this convention next year?
