KFC Starts Delivering Buckets Of Fried Chicken In Los Angeles & San Francisco

KFC is about to make the holiday season merrier as it now wants to deliver buckets of its signature fried chicken straight to its customers’ homes. This is a first the Louisville, Kentucky-headquartered fast food chain.

As per USA Today, KFC's Colonel Sanders is now open to delivering the fast food chain's meals to its clients based in Los Angeles and San Francisco - the first two United States cities that are getting this type of service.

KFC's delivery service in the aforementioned areas commenced this Thursday, and the fast food chain is looking to expanding the service as quickly as possible, so that before the year wraps up, it will be delivering orders in the Houston area. Then, more and more cities will enjoy this service in 2016.

To carry out this delivery service, KFC has partnered with DoorDash - an online delivery company - to take its meals like chicken, coleslaw and biscuits to the house of its customers.

To place an order, customers are advised to go to Door Dash's app or website, according to Los Angeles Times. However, it is important to note that KFC's chicken does not come cheap.

The delivery fee for the chicken will range from $4.99 through $6.99 depending on the location of the customer. Needless to say, the prices of some food items are going to be more expensive than when customers buy them at any of KFC's branches.

Still, there is one good reason to take advantage of this delivery. KFC said that value meals will keep their pricing, so an eight-piece $20 Family Fill Up would still shell for $20. Moreover, all menu items will be available for delivery order.

KFC believes that every family deserves a break from preparing meals at the kitchen, and that families would really enjoy the plentiful and valuable meals prepared by its cooks "the hard way," reported Market Watch.

KFC chief information officer Chris Caldwell said, "Decades ago, people traveled from miles around to visit Colonel Sanders' original Corbin, KY restaurant to taste his now world famous Original Recipe Chicken."

Caldwell added: "Through our partnership with DoorDash, customers will now be able to order an affordable meal combination like the $20 Family Fill Up or individual $5 Fill-Up, or choose from the menu a la carte style."

Speaking of the partnership with DoorDash, Caldwell said, "When we began exploring delivery options for KFC, we quickly found DoorDash was the right choice. Both companies believe the customer comes first and DoorDash's commitment to customer experience made them the best partner for us to get the world's best fried chicken directly to our customers' doors."

The news comes amid the addition of delivery service to other rival chains' services. McDonald's, Chipotle and Starbucks work with Postmates. Taco Bell is also working with DoorDash since it is ran by KFC owner Yum Brands.
