"Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations" was just released and it's already garnering quite the attention of not only fans of the show, but video game critics as well.
After many "Adventure Time" oriented video games, many are asking, "is this the definitive 'Adventure Time' game ever released?"
As reported by Connect Digital World, the game was developed by Vicious Cycle Software and is billed as a point-and-click adventure game that also features elements of combat.
The players will be able to experience those different kinds of gameplay in every section of the game. The player will be using Finn with Jake as a tag-along and will get to experience the Land of Ooo like never before.
Normally, games like "Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations" appeal to kids as the genre tends to be dragging and frustrating for adults to play. But fortunately, according to Game Asylum, this title included enough hints that will keep the player engaged, while avoiding it to become as easy as a walk in the park.
As noted, every item that can be carried or interacted within the game, either has a vocal or a written description that highlights the quality of writing of the game.
The hint system gives the player just enough information or just a kick on the right train of thought. "Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations" rarely gives the solution easily or directly, making it one of those games that just balances the right mixture of difficulty.
Another aspect that also garnered praise is that, all throughout it's obvious that the developers are massive fans of the show. The reason is because every character, even the minor ones, are represented as accurate as possible. As an added bonus, all of the vocal work was provided by the actual show's cast.
Even the show's creator Pendleton Ward, who also voices the bratty Lumpy Space Princess, reprised his role for the game.
As for the game's fighting system, the combat is simple and impossible to lose, but don't expect any big prizes for winning though.
However, the biggest draw to this game if you're a big fan of the show is how you can explore and interact the "Adventure Time" universe in-depth, Nintento Life has reported.
But the game is not without its share of misses. It is apparent that it's a well-developed title, but like most point-and-click games, it lacks any replay value.
Another concern is, also like most canned character animations, it tends to look wooden and lack the vibrant emotion of the characters of the show.
Nonetheless, you cannot deny that "Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations" is a solid game, especially for a show tie-up.
And to answer the question if this is the definitive "Adventure Time" game, we're not quite sure but all we know is this is the best "Adventure Time" video game so far.
The game is available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
