Wright is a fitness instructor from southern Maine who was conducting a Zumba business from a one-room apartment on top of a hair salon and a flower store. However, Zumba, a Latin-based fitness activity was not the only business she was in charge of. She was charged with conducting a prostitution business from her Zumba dance studio.
Moreoever, it is said that she was secretly recording her sexual encounters by videotape. The videotapes and footage included approximately 14 000 screen shots and a surplus of 100 hours of video. Additionally, online porn video created by Wright at her office was found. Her sexual activities is said to have brought her in an income of 150 000$.
"The state's in over its head. This case isn't ready for prosecution," Strong's lawyer Daniel Lilly expressed at the hearing.
The 29 year old however, pleaded not guilty to 106 counts of prostitution, infringement of privacy, tax evasion and a list of other charges related to prostitution and providing sexual services for money in a rented location. Mark Strong Sr., a 57 year old man who is her alleged business partner likewise pled not guilty to 59 countrs of promotion of prostitution and infringement of the right of privacy of individuals.
The case will be a landmark decision revealing the dynamics of sex, gender and status. Many high profil epersonel, lawyers, doctors, law enforcement officials and other renowned individuals are implicated in the clientele list which the police have. Suspicions had arisen when police got reports of cars coming at late hours of the day and even in the day to the studio with reports of “moaning and groaning.”
Currently, Wright is free on recognizance and also free to continue being a single mother to her young son.
