Apple will be releasing a new phone for mid-2016. Enter the iPhone 6c.
According to GSM Arena, the incoming Apple phone will have a 4-inch display and will again feature plastic casing.
As noted, Apple is planning to launch a successor to the iPhone 5c, which is targeted at those who want an Apple phone but are on a budget.
The iPhone 5c according to reports, is described as one of the oddest iPhones ever released. Under its case, it was essentially the same as the iPhone 5, which was released the year before, but instead of being in a metal body, it utilized the use of a polycarbonate shell.
Although still quite expensive, when compared to the new iPhone 5 and 5S during that time, it was quite affordable for an Apple device.
But according to G For Games, despite the iPhone 5c not exactly earning too many fans, rumors of a successor have been spreading for months now. The iPhone 6c was first rumored to be released along the iPhone 6s a couple of months ago, however it obviously did not happen.
And now, the rumor mill is getting steam once again and, according to an IHS Technology Research, the iPhone 6c will be released in the middle of 2016.
In a related report by ZD Net, Apple releasing the 6c would actually make sense because, compared to the iPhone 5c before, it did not offer much difference with the 5 and 5s, and the 6c is obviously smaller and lighter.
Before, when the 5c was released, apart from the internals, the screens and sizes were identical, prompting consumers to ditch it in favor of better performing phones of the same size.
But today, with the 6S and 6S Plus featuring 4.7 and 5.5-inch phones, the 6c's 4-inch screen is definitely a breath of fresh air and offers diversity to iPhone choices.
Apart from that, analysts are also saying that the iPhone 6c can also boost the sale of iPads. The reason is, once a phone gets big enough, there's a chance that consumers can get discouraged by buying a tablet, due to almost identical sizes.
There are reports that said that certain buyers are replacing their iPads with the large iPhone 6 Plus.
But apart from the sizing, one great reason people would flock to the iPhone 6c is its price. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are premium devices, which warrant also "premium" prices.
And with the 6c being rumored to be smaller and using cheaper materials, the price of the incoming phone would be significantly lower.
Do you think the iPhone 6c would be successful?
