“Dancing With The Stars” Season 21 is officially coming to an end this week with a two-part finale special. During the first night however, another big announcement will be made since another couple is getting axed before the big finale come Tuesday night.
With only four remaining dancing couples left — Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson, Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess and Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold — it is undeniable that a significant number of followers of the show are looking at Alek and Lindsay as the next pair to go.
Prior the two-part finale, judge Carrie Ann Inaba opened up to USA Today and said that she thinks any couple could win the competition this season and bring home the mirrorball trophy.
Monday night is freestyle dance night, and Inaba believes that this would be the make or break of the dancers at this point in the competition. The couple who will accumulate the lowest judge-viewer votes will be eliminated before Tuesday's final show.
From the very beginning, many fans of the ABC reality competition have already favored Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough as the frontrunner. Not too far behind and at times on top of the game are Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess.
Bindi has gotten a lot of love and attention throughout the season because she's not afraid to go out of her comfort zone per StarPulse, and it also pays to have Derek Hough as her partner. It won't be surprising If they win the mirrorball trophy this season.
However, it seems Sharna isn't going to let them get the last laugh as she is looking forward to the reception on her BSB-themed freestyle with Nick.
In an exclusive interview with Fashion & Style, Burgess revealed, "I think the fans are going to be very, very happy with our freestyle." She added, "I won't give any more than that away, we and Nick are doing our own new creative thing with it, and by it I mean the song."
Given Sharna and Nick's anticipated number, it's very likely that they'll make it through the part 1 smoothly and secure a slot in the finale.
Carlos and Witney are also getting a lot of credit for their performances. Even Carlos' wife Alexa thinks her husband should win the "DWTS" Season 21 mirrorball trophy.
In an interview with JustJared, Mr. PenaVega said, "My wife, she really wants me to win it.," before he added, "Her getting knocked out last week was tough, so she's like my little cheerleader on the side of the road."
Finally, there's American hero Alek Skarlatos, who despite struggling with the scrutinizing eyes of the judges and in spite of his lack of background in dancing, still managed to get into the finale.
Of course, he has proven himself worthy of a slot in the finale through his outstanding performances this season. Wetpaint even listed his top five dances which showcase his elegance and natural ability on the dance floor.
However, it's still obvious that Alek is the underdog among the four. And he could be the one eliminated in tonight's show. But, if any of the other three stars will botch their performances and if he can gather remarkable votes, perhaps Alek can make it to part 2.
What do you think of Alek and Lindsay? Do you want them to be saved from tonight's elimination? Sound off below.
