Abby Lee Miller owns a dance studio in Pittsburgh called the Abby Lee Dance Company. It trains young dancers to be the best as they can be. The members have traveled around the world to compete and show their amazing dancing prowess. They won countless awards, so many parents want to sign up their kids with ALDC.
The young dancers also participated in Broadway stages and recently, some members are now appearing on TV shows. However, the dance school's owner and trainer, is known to be tough with her students.
In 2011, Miller was contracted by Lifetime Cable TV Network to appear on the reality show "Dance Moms." The show follows how the young students turn into great dancers. The mothers of the participants are on the show as well.
Through the show, Miller's method in teaching her dancers was described as ‘tough.' She also prefers tongue-lashing to lecture her students to push them to do better.
But apparently, one student couldn't take it anymore and sued her in 2014. According to an article in In Touch Weekly, she accused her teacher of severe bullying.
Due to the unjust scoldings and abuse, 13-year-old Paige Hyland, asserts she developed extreme anxiety disorder. She added that the damages are beyond emotional because Miller had been physically abusive to the students as well. It was stated in the legal documents that she pinches the girls until they almost bled and forces them to practice at least 60 hours per week.
Hyland also claimed that her teacher often made them cry, hurled derogatory remarks, and mocked them for being weak. Hyland and her mom, Kelly filed a $5 million lawsuit against Abby but the case was dropped when the judge favored Miller's side.
But Miller's legal battle did not end here, in October 2015, she was charged in Pittsburgh for deliberately hiding her income, earned through her performances from 2012 t0 2013. Further, she's facing fraud charges relating to her false declaration of bankruptcy and concealment of bankruptcy assets.
If convicted, she can end up in jail for five years on top of the $5 million in fines. Deadline reported that the ALDC owner has entered a not guilty plea and is currently out on bail after paying $10,000 bond.
Now, with her legal issues still a hot topic, it seems that Abby Miller activated her ‘bully' side one again, and in full blast, to restrain cast members and staff of "Dance Moms" from speaking bad about her to the media.
Insiders shared that the dance coach has turned into a total bully while filming "Dance Mom's" Season 6.
"Abby is threatening to kick off the show anyone who speaks negatively about her in the press. She's trying to dictate everything that cast members say or do right now and everyone is extremely afraid of her -- especially the moms," the source said.
The moms dread crossing paths with her because it could end their daughters appearance on the popular program. "Crossing Abby could mean the end of their children's dreams," the insider explained.
