Disney Pixar's latest movie offering, "The Good Dinosaur" is finally hitting the theaters over the Thanksgiving holiday, on Nov. 25. The animated film was originally slated for release on May 2014 but was delayed to improve more elements for a much better outcome.
The film projects a world where dinosaurs continue to roam the planet as the asteroid which scientists claimed to be responsible for the extinction of the massive creatures, did not wiped them out from the earth after all. Thus, the dinos were able to reach the period when humans also start to live on earth.
The tagline on its trailer which was uploaded on YouTube says: "'The Good Dinosaur' asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?"
In response, Pixar will take the viewers to an epic world where dinosaurs get friendly with human beings. Likewise, the story revolves around the life of Arlo, a young Apatosaurus that has a close-knit family. His family work hard to keep their territory secure and make sure that they have enough food to eat through the winter season.
However, after the head of his family died while protecting the family's crops from pests, Arlo now embarked on a mission to complete what his dad started, but in doing so, he lost his way home. While he travels to find his family, he met an unlikely friend, a human boy who would later help him in locating his home.
Together they coursed through the harsh environment, protecting each other and eventually forming a bond that will never be broken. The young dinosaur learns how to overcome his fears and realized that he could do so much - things that he is really capable of.
Then again, despite the movie's positive aura, there are people who criticized its story. They pointed that "The Good Dinosaur" illustrated a very inconsistent fact. Debates have also started as people discuss the plot which centers on the life where humans are living side by side with the enormous creatures.
Critics are trying to use science as an argument, to seemingly find fault in the PG-Rated animated flick. They say that the story only confuse people, especially the kids, since the whole story doesn't resemble anything that's close to reality. TechTimes mentioned one such strong critic named Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist.
As many people are accentuating the "historical inaccuracy" of the film, @abnormalAL seems to defend the story by commenting on the trailer's thread:
"The amount of people complaining about "historical inaccuracy" here is unbelievable. OF COURSE DINOSAURS AND HUMANS NEVER LIVED TOGETHER. That's the whole point. What IF dinosaurs had never gone extinct and coexisted with humans. "IF" being the key word. It's called fiction, meaning NOT REAL."
On the other hand, one of the most striking features of "The Good Dinosaur' is its visuals. Pixar obviously worked hard in creating realistic backdrop where the cartoony characters blend in perfectly. The details are down to a T and will leave you in awe with its high degree of photorealism.
